About Us

Roger de Clare Church of England Voluntary Controlled First School and Nursery is a Church school administered by Hertfordshire Local Education Authority.

Throughout the year, our school, parents and the community come together for a wide range of events.

In the Autumn Term, our school holds fundraising events, organised by the PTFFA. Harvest Festival is celebrated with a special service in the Church, and in the final weeks before Christmas, each Key Stage tells the Christmas Story in the local Church.

In the Spring Term, Easter is celebrated with a special service in the Church.    Various events for children and adults continue as organised by the PTFFA.

During the Summer Term, our school plays a major part in Standon's May Day celebrations. It chooses the May Queen and provides Maypole Dancing that is a focus for the day. Standon May Day is also a large fundraising event for our school, through stalls, and the locally famous Duck Race. Most school trips take place in this term, including a residential trip for Year 4.  The annual sports day and open morning unites the whole school in the final weeks of the school year. In the last week of term, we celebrate the end of the school year with our very special leavers' service wishing the children well in the next step in their journey.
