About Us
Roger de Clare Church of England Voluntary Controlled First School and Nursery is a Church school administered by Hertfordshire Local Education Authority.
Throughout the year, our school, parents and the community come together for a wide range of events.
In the Autumn Term, our school holds fundraising events, organised by the School Association. Harvest Festival is celebrated with a special service in the Church, and in the final weeks before Christmas, children, teachers and parents join together for a carol service at Standon Church. Each Key Stage also puts on a Christmas production for parents.
In the Spring Term, Easter is celebrated with a special service in the Church. Our Year 4 children also go on a residential trip.
During the Summer Term, our school plays a major part in Standon's May Day celebrations. It chooses the May Queen and provides Maypole Dancing that is a focus for the day. Standon May Day is also a large fundraising event for our school, through stalls, and the locally famous Duck Race. The annual sports day unites the whole school in the final weeks of the school year. On the last day of term we celebrate the end of the school year with our very special leavers' service wishing the children well in the next step in their journey.
